Throughout this project, I tried hard to make the aesthetics of my project coherent and modern, with a touch of that old-school internet feel. To begin, I made sure that there was a consistency in font usage, as I was raised by a graphic designer for a mother who might have killed me otherwise. The font I ended up using was Bebas Neue from Google Fonts, as it was professional-looking and had a weight that was eye-catching without being distracting. I also intentionally chose to keep my written bio in a basic serif font, as Bebas Neue was difficult to read in a large block, and added an edge of professionalism to the web page. Beyond fonts, I maintained a consistent color palette across the website, selecting it in Coolors. I chose this palette in particular because it provided a neutral canvas for my photography to stand out while still offering ways to add color throughout the webpage. As for the images themselves, I made sure that I would be able to title and data each to provide additional information about each piece, which took a lot of messing around with flexboxes to make sure that each picture and description sat in its own container within the flexbox so they did not warp the rest of the box. Additionally, I added details that when photos were hovered over, they would enlarge, allowing the user to see them more clearly without distorting the image or taking over the entire page. In that same vein of thinking, I made sure that each image was displayed correctly, as some were taken vertically while others were taken horizontally. Finally, I wanted to ensure my WebDev link was consistent with the other links in the project, so I added it as a small button below each page, using the same color palette and font. Overall, with this project, I made sure to balance aesthetics and functionality so my website looked just as good as my photography. *Note no AI was used during this project just a lot of searching through Stack Overflow and MDN*
Project Three Reflection: Commerce: The commerce site is the site that I first started with which meant that it had the largest learning curve. While it took time to really grasp the difference between templates and posts and pages and styling I I eventually was able to understand and put together a great website. I do think I could have expanded more in the style section of my website, however, I didn’t feel the need to tweak it too much as it already matched the aesthetic of a sleek modern men’s fashion website. I am proud of the commerce website’s variety of products as well as its filtering system in addition to its variety of hyperlilnks all across the website to make traversal much easier. I am also proud of the sticky filter in the shop section which was achieved through additional CSS applied on top of the filter block My fully filled out products are “The End is Near T-shit” Aurliean Bird Signet, Heading Nowhere T-shirt, and Disrupted Signet Ring. I also used Superb Addons which was very helpful alongside my theme of Ecommerce Ruby and Simple Variation Swatches for size selectors on the products. I would like to get more comfortable with the system in the future Content: WIth the content site I came in with a bit more confidence as I had already done the commerce site. I think that my strong suits with this site are in its variety of posts, connection to my commerce site, site / section layout. Things that I am particularly proud of is my site design within the various posts as I tried to find interesting web page layouts to ensure readability and visual interest. I would say this theme however gave me more issues especially with the header which would duplicate itself randomly and often however in the end I figured it out and it looks good now! I am also proud of the wide range of content, from videos and galleries to covers, related posts, other stories, and read sections. I think this is the strongest part of the website. Things I would like to learn / work on in the future is time management as I ended up being pressed for time to get these websites up and in on time. My fully filled out posts are St. Christopher, Symbols of protection, The Tree that started it all, and Silver or Gold. I also used superb addons for this website. My additional CSS was rounding and outlining the video in the symbols of protection post as it seemed out of place without any sort of container. AI DISCLOSURE: I used AI as a writing assistant across this entire project. Most if not all of the actual content i.e. the paragraphs of text were written with AI.
